the story of clay kyiv
In these photos, almost 20 years ago, I’m making my very first piece out of clay. It turns out the story of clay kyiv began much earlier than I thought.
The idea for the brand came to me while I was creating my own home. I couldn’t find ceramic vases, candles, or candleholders that looked quite like the pieces I imagined on my shelves.
Eventually, I found a family-run craft workshop in Sloviansk. For almost a year, we worked together developing our designs and preparing our first drop, and at the end of 2021, clay kyiv officially launched.
In 2022, the brand was put on hold due to the dangerous situation in the region where our pieces were made. A year later, clay kyiv returned with a new drop.
Our signature pieces are our vases. They have a way of effortlessly completing a space and giving any interior a fresh perspective. I’ve always been drawn to distinctive shapes and textures, and they remain at the heart of every new piece we create.
My aim is to create not just decor, but art objects.
The clay kyiv team does everything we can to make sure the feeling you get from experiencing the brand goes far beyond the price of the piece. I hope clay kyiv objects become the ones your eyes are naturally drawn to every time you come home — the pieces that make your space feel truly unique.
